Electrical Engineer/Chip Designer/PCB Designer

You will work in our Hardware Engineering department. Responsibilities range from specification, design implementation, testing, and release, to manufacturing of digital systems. There are two technical career tracks in this department at this time: FPGA chip design and PCB design.

The FPGA Designer position includes writing hardware and system specifications, preparing the OS images, drawing schematics, designing simple to complex CPLD and Xilinx/Altera FPGA chips, simulating the chips, boards, and systems in Verilog, and thorough system testing using Altium Designer, as well as building prototypes.

The PCB Designer position will include complete design of printed circuit boards from concept to final version. Qualified candidates will be experienced in engineering all aspects of printed circuit board design in a consumer electronics environment.

You will work closely with product marketing, mechanical engineering, hardware design engineers, software engineers, manufacturing engineers, compliance engineers and vendors. Designs must comply with FCC, CE and UL certification standards. Excellent communication skills, teamwork, and self motivation are required.

Software Developer

The ideal background is three or more years of client/server software development using C# as the primary development tool. If you have six months of C# with additional time on VC++, this is also acceptable. Recent graduates of computer science programs with a 3.0 GPA and related internship/part-time work experience in C#, VC++, or JAVA may also be considered on the entry-level side of the salary range.

We are currently looking for candidates for three types of developer positions: Client, Server, and Embedded Software.

For Client Developer, C# or VC++ is required and the ideal skill set includes C# or VC++, Windows Forms, ASP.NET, XML, multi-threading, Windows Graphics Foundation.

For Server Developer, C# or VC++ is required and the ideal skill set includes C# or VC++, Windows Forms, ASP.NET, XML, multi-threading, Windows Graphics Foundation, Win 32, RS232, TCP/IP, and Web Services.

For Embedded Software Developer, the ideal skill set includes C, a variety of embedded platforms, Net+OS, ThreadX, and microC OS.

Our team is currently developing Life|ware software and associated hardware products for homeowners who wish to automate their audio, video, HVAC, lighting, security, and other systems.

Background in home automation is not required, so this is a great opportunity to transition your skills to a growth industry. Working with a controls-oriented application in real time is fun and quite different from developing most business applications.

If your skill set doesn't include all of these, still feel free to apply as we will consider different levels of expertise for our team. Starting compensation is commensurate with experience. Recent college graduates with good intern experience or academic coursework that is .NET-oriented are encouraged to send resumes.
