The list of finalists is out, and Life|ware is a finalist for two awards. Life|ware 2.0.4 is a finalist in the Best Control System category, and Life|ware Visual Project is a finalist in the Best Software Application category. I quote:

The Mark of Excellence Awards honor outstanding innovation and achievement in custom home electronics products, services and installation technologies. Entries are reviewed by a panel of experts and submitted in Supplier and Systems Integrators categories.

Winners will be announced on March 13, 2009 at EHX Spring 2009 in Orlando, Florida.

Nominations are out, and EI is up for two CEA Mark of Excellence awards! Life|ware 2.0.3 has been nominated in the “Best Control System” category, and Life|media LMS 754 media server in the “Best Media Server” category.

Apologies for the lateness of my update. Get so busy during the trade show that sneaking away for a update has gotten increasingly difficult. Here are a couple of updates from the first two days of the show. To put it precisely, it’s been Awesome with a capital A, baby!

Thursday started out great. Life|ware sponsored the keynote address by Dick Vitale. He was energetic, compelling and funny. A great choice for the keynote. When he finished, he headed down into the crowd to shake hands and meet the integrators who had attended. Below, he chats with EI’s Mike Seamons before taking the stage:

After the speech, Dickie V and ESPN’s ‘the Schwab’ checked out Life|ware:

By the way, Dickie V says the Buckeyes have got “a real chance” to go all the way in the tournament this year.

Hello Everybody, nice seeing you again.

When you leave Ohio for Florida in the middle of Winter, people tend to give you grief. For example, here was the scene at my house before leaving on Wednesday:

OK, got it. Snow. Cold. Gray. Unpleasant. But, before you get all ‘free trip to Florda’ on me, here was the scene when I arrived:

Get it? Dark. Indoors. Unpleasant. We put in really long hours on the trade show floor, and setting up a giant booth is always an adventure, made no easier by a certain weaselly Yankee running around sticking his camera all up in your grille. (Um, me.)

COLUMBUS – Hello, everybody. Nice seeing you again.

I’m writing this post with a heavy heart and am full of sincere apologies. I just learned today that the guy who got traded to Training for a scanner is not, in fact, going to make it to EHX.

Ullmer: Not going to EHX.

This might not seem like a big deal, but I promised you he’d be there and you could, like, go up to him and go “Hey, man. I heard you got traded to Training for a scanner,” and then watch his ears get red (it’s always good times), but today, I was like “When are you flying down for EHX?” and he was like “I’m not going to EHX” and I was like, “Why aren’t you going to EHX? I promised everyone on the Life|blog that you’d be there” and he was all like “You’ll have to get a cardboard cut out of me, then.”
